Digital Extremes Gaming Company Sold

Digital Extremes, the gaming company responsible for such hits as the Bioshock series, Warframe and Unreal Championship has been sold.

In their announcement which states that Multi Dynamic Games Group Inc (a subsidiary of Sumpo Food Holdings Ltd) out of China and Perfect Online Holding Limited (a subsidiary of Perfect World Co. Ltd) has purchased 61% of Digital Extremes’ stock with 58% going to Multi Dynamic Games Group Inc and 3% going to Perfect Online Holding Limited.

“We are thrilled with the potential to work with partners who share our philosophy on the future of gaming and how we’re approaching it,” said James Schmalz, CEO of Digital Extremes.  “This partnership will further empower us to continue making Warframe bigger and better with full control over its destiny.”

The acquisition of Digital Extremes is dependent on several conditions.  One of which includes the granting of exclusive rights to publish Warframe on consoles in mainland China to Perfect Online Holding Limited.  If you wish to read the full details of the acquisition you can do so here.

Currently, Digital Extremes has more than 200 employees and is located in London, ON Canada.
